things broken eventually can be fixed...

imagine susan and i sitting on the steps of Pioneer Square like two little school girls, eyes fixed on that miraculous Weather Machine. imagine Susan saying to me after seeing my eyes stray off to watch the parade preparations on the square 'hey, i think it moved.' i quickly snap back my head to the weather vane panels and sure enough the panels had moved but only because of the wind. it was only the wind. it appears the infamous Weather Machine in Pioneer Square has been broken for some time. partially the computer, partially the hydraulics... ? so now they are on a quest to find the necessary parts, find the necessary labor, and eventually find the necessary cash. join our grassroots efforts to get the Weather Machine up and running.............................send your comments to mahlin at mahlin@pioneercourthousesquare.org.

at the same time this came to our attention the procession for the future march was underway. many have been inspired by the spirit of "yes we can" and "si se puede," and the procession for the future compliments that message by raising the bar on what we as citizens of this country and planet can do. at noon, tuesday march 4th, 2008, for the first time ever, a progressive platform is taking parade form as the procession for the future, and it is doing so in the forward looking community of portland, oregon.

march 4th is not just the name of a great Portland area marching band. it is also the date that the US Constitution went into effect in 1789, the date of Thomas Jefferson's first inaugural address, and it is the only date on the calendar that inherently calls forth We the People to rededicate ourselves to creating a more perfect union. so take the day off and March Forth!
