last night was one of those nights that it hit me - that i knew moving into this apartment complex was a good decision. sitting outside on my balcony as it were, i met for the first time my next door neighbors, alex and lindsay, a couple who moved all the way from Michigan to start a new life here in Portland. i love hearing stories of 'the big move' because i can share my very own as well. mine was a one way ticket, two bags and a job at the Hilton and just like them, we had NO IDEA what to expect but thrived off of the energy of taking that leap of faith that all things will turn out fine. if there is a will there is a way. and all things happen for a good reason. ben and steven, my neighbors from downstairs, came up so we all could see one another from eye level instead of them having to look up the entire time. or was it a plot to get a little closer. ;) ben's a jeweler. try saying that five times in a row. ;) anyways, cheers to Fifth Avenue Court Apartments. always seems like a vacation living here. rock. paper. scissors. at Jax, all three of us scratched our foreheads as to the purpose of a jar containing bottlecaps with the words rock, paper, scissors on them. alex was digging his hand into the jar which reminded me of that scene in the movie Amelie where she digs her hand into a pile of dry beans.
