papa, libation means of which i did not know the meaning until just now: "in modern urban or hip-hop american culture libation has evolved into pouring a small amount of malt liquor or other alcohol onto the ground. this may be done for fallen comrades ("dead homies") who are buried in the ground or who are imprisoned, or simply in dedication to a new enterprise. hence, the famous quote: "one for me, and one for my fallen homies." i don't think that is exactly what will be happening at living room theaters. :)
we ended up postponing our day of snowboarding till the morning. which leaves me to take care of my christmas shopping today. last night, i halted in my steps on my way home from work at 10th and stark. this particular intersection has been vacant for quite some time. well, come to think about it, ever since i got here, 10.29.05. what sits there now is a living room theaters. they describe it as "the fusion of acclaimed independent films, casual cuisine and tempting libations. six intimate Living Room® Theaters. exclusive high-definition digital movie projection. attentive in-theater service right up until the film begins. plush recliners, private tables and chairs. sleek cafĂ©. cool bar. warm fires. fast Wi-Fi. cinema that caters to all your senses." i hope its as good as it looks! FINALLY, we have something to pick from other than mainstream movies...i know, i know, we have cinema 21, bagdad theater, but i'm talking about a venue that is located closer to my apartment.
so, i'm walking around downtown portland today with ideas of what to buy for christmas gifts and as i'm walking... i notice a family of four infront of me each holding one basket of something. i wanted to know what this something was so i continued to observe them and as they stopped right to the left of me in pioneer square i asked them - is that mistletoe? the mom was like yes and that struck a lengthy conversation of which i was pleased to have been there. so more about this mistletoe -- 'we climbed trees to pick this mistletoe. mistletoe was a symbol of healing for the celts and of peace for the ancient romans and we are selling it today to help bring peace and healing to the environment. a portion of the money, $5, we earn will go to the klamath-siskiyou wildlands center. KSWild works to protect old growth forests and endangered species. KSWild fights for permanent protection of the incomparable ecological riches of the Pacific Northwest. to learn more visit: http://www.kswild.org. hey jen, jan and kori, i've got US some mistletoe for the 22nd ;)... and i asked about the berries since they were missing from my purchase. the mom was like, they are poisonous, don't you know...
