12 June 2013

Looking back on when I first moved out here to Portland, I immersed myself in everything I could.  I was on this trek to rediscover myself and my life as a single person. From learning how to knit, to becoming a pretty good snowboarder and on to finding people in the community who would eventually publish stuff of mine and hang up my photos in their art galleries, the road to finding myself was starting to shape up for me very nicely. There was so much to look forward to, so much indeed.  In my eight years now in Portland, I feel at home here. And at ease. And with myself, most importantly happily engaged.  My blog is now eight years old as well and is my creative outlet in life. I need to share with you as much as I can, all my adventures from a relaxed me, one who is comfortable in her own skin and not trying to figure out who she is anymore.   Having read recent posts made by my fellow PDX bloggers, this too inspires me again and I hope I can pick up the pace here at Freckled. Girl. Talk. As you all know, I’m on the final stretch of an amazing journey: my pregnancy.  July 12th is the expected due date.  I’m nervous yet calm;  I’m excited yet pretty much feeling like well this is going to happen so I’m going to just go with the flow. I don’t have anything planned per say but we do have the basics covered. I’m still walking to the bus stop every day even though that hill I have to climb takes me longer and longer to get up, I was pulling weeds and trimming bushes like a pro over the weekend yet pulling myself off of the sofa is a completely different story. And then it hits me, my next role in life will be as a mother. I will get to discover what that is all about here pretty soon and become myself a teacher, mentor, etc.  And to the love of my life, Steven, who has been amazing throughout this entire journey, to watch you turn into a dad is incredibly exciting to me. He even stopped drinking once he found out I was pregnant. So as you can imagine, we both are looking forward to a nice, cold beer. Our place is now chock full of baby stuff and for that we are truly blessed and thankful to all of our friends and family. We have decided on naming our little one, Samuel David Steven and of course call him Sam. He will be our little summer baby. Summer in Portland will never be the same…
