Freckled. Girl. Talk...

It was a bluebird day here in Portland, Oregon. We didn't even leave the house except to go grab some chinese. I'm always up for a good meme and a fellow blogger who also is named Natalie gave me the following 5 questions to answer:

1. All the happy news is about the inauguration. In your "permanently happy land" choose an event of the Presidential inauguration and plan it; what would you do? I would send everyone up in hot air balloons so they could cheer from up in the sky. I'd have jumbotrons attached to a few balloons so everyone could see Obama being sworn in. Each balloon would have a huge american flag hanging off of it and every person would have an unlimited supply of silly string to do as they please. And the grand finale would be Obama bungee jumping from his Presidential balloon into the White House. Kurplunck!

2. When you were a little girl what did you imagine you would be doing as a woman? I really can't remember what I wanted to be when I grew up until I was probably in high school. It was never me to think about being all grown up and having grown up responsibilities. I always wanted to play and create and just have fun. I remember writing down in my high school yearbook that I wanted to become a pharmacist thinking I would make over a $100,000. Since then I've graduated with a chemistry degree, have some of my undergraduate papers shelved somewhere in the Agnes Scott College library, worked as a chemist for a couple of years and then felt so lonely and bored sitting behind a lab bench that I switched careers and found a job in the hotel industry. I am a chatterbox so why not talk to people all day long. Something I never imagined I would be doing as a little girl.

3. Tell us about what photography means to you. Why do you take photos? I took up photography seriously about three years ago. It's all about having an eye for it. And I feel my photos are my way of expressing myself. I love that feeling of being behind the camera and that excitement which comes from 'did I get the perfect shot?' I feel at home behind the lens of a camera.

4. If it could be anywhere, where would you live, and why? Well, I have to be near the snow so I can snowboard all the time and I would need to be near the water so that I can play on the beach on the weekends...so, I am happy to say that I can do both of these here in Portland, Oregon.

5. If you could have a do-over year, when would it be and why? I have no regrets. None whatsoever. What I've learned of life is that you are going to meet some people who will hurt you and in the end you have to walk away from it with a smile on your face. I took risks when befriending people and in a few cases I didn't choose so wisely. I jump head first into things, what can I say! I think in a few instances I still let them bother me and have considered seeing a therapist about it.
