Delicious Lazy

If I had to sum up how I feel right now with one word it would be lazy. Lazy is what I'm up to and feeling after a couple of days of carousing with the next door neighbors, Alex&Linds. On Thursday, Steven and I baked a turkey breast side down for the very first time. The outcome is a not so pretty turkey - usually you're accustom to a golden brown look - but the advantage to this cooking method is the meat turned out extra juicy. We used an English brand, Bisto, to make the gravy with and well... we modified the directions a little because clumps kept forming over the stove. Our slight modification was to blend the mixture: liquefying that delicious goodness. With turkey slices, a sugared carrot dish and gravy in hands, we went next door to find they had put their colored Christmas tree up already. Even though we are all so far away from our families sitting down with long time friends - plus a 5th person invited by Alex - made for a cozy Thanksgiving. All of us stuffed ourselves silly and managed to play a few rounds of ps3 Jeopardy followed by the movie, Iron Man. We watched it on their huge flat screen TV with surround sound.

Glad you had a delicious turkey feast. As for creating that "crisp golden brown look" on your turkey breast, I would highly suggest brushing the skin with olive oil and baking uncovered....and voila, not only do you have your moist turkey as you had accomplished, you also get that golden brown look :) Feel free to do a lot of cooking if you want at my house when "house sitting" on the weekend of the
13th!!

We've been doing our turkeys breast down for a few years. i think they are much tastier event if they don't look quite as pretty!
