there is nothing more beautiful than a dork.

there's no duty so much underrated as the duty of being happy. by being happy we sow anonymous benefit upon the world. - robert louis stevenson. as i peruse through the blog and flickr sites belonging to my postcard swap group, there is something definably common amongst us all and that is our love for cupcakes, baking, photography, being crafty and finding beauty in the nature that surrounds us. i am in awe and i must MAKE something soon. holicrackomoly, i think i know what i'm really good at. i will make tonight and post in the morning. okay kiddies, i like to keep my readers on the edge of their seats. that's right, wag your tails for me...

i was hoping for some space travel today but the darn thing wasn't working. |can any of you guess where this photo was taken? there's a prize involved...|

Hey I like your new car. The steering wheel seems a tad big and do you get bugs in your teeth when you drive?

thanks of the history lesson HL. geez, and my life was quite content before knowing all of this. etymology: it is popularly asserted that the term originated as whalers' occupational slang for the penis of a whale, and by transfer became an anatomical insult, undergoing subsequent generalization and amelioration to its present meaning. the current state of evidence suggests that this is a case of folk etymology[1], as no solid documentation has been advanced for the use of the term in this context. one of the earliest documented uses of the word "dork" is a 1961 publication (referencing 1953), in which the meaning is clearly penis, but with no particular reference to whales[2]. instead, the term may be merely a minced oath variant of "dick", a vulgar term for a human penis. nonetheless, the origin of the whale-reference and its widespread credit remain unexplained, and the claimed derivation is best treated as unconfirmed.

well there you have it. the male penis.

The story of Amelia Island.

Friday

04:00 - on the road
09:15 - arrive on island; make way to resort; drop off keys with valet after asking him where I can park my own car and getting rebuffed
11:30 - in the middle of conference proceedings, walk out of resort and notice amazing oceanfront/dune view
01:30 - conference over for day; make way to cafe; eat on terrace overlooking pools, dunes, and ocean (quite lovely)
02:30 - head for bed and breakfast and check-in early; pick out a couple of movies; pick out a couple of books; take bath in whirlpool tub whilst reading; take nap (remember, 04:00 departure)
07:30 - walk towards harbor and quaint downtown; find lovely restaurant with outdoor seating in a garden; eat seared ahi tuna with cheese grits and collards and an amazing roll (with butter flavored with ginger); read while eating
08:30 - walk to harbor and catch last of sunset; walk back to b&b; watch Cold Mountain
10:30 - husband arrives
