i just received the following email. its rare to receive these...

natalie: About 3 or 4 weeks ago you showed myself and X of my staff at X around the catering and reception facilities at the Hilton. At the same time, I was trying to arrange for a dinner location in Atlanta to meet with a X donor/alum and his wife. You recommended Joel's (with 2 dots over the "e") because you had previously worked there, and I want to thank you for doing that. The place was fabulous, the food spectacular, and when I had your name passed on to the owner, we received a complimentary drink. You are a very gracious person and the Hilton is fortunate to have you working with them (and it is too bad for Joel's). Thank you for your fine recommendation of the restaurant--it worked out great for our purposes. Best of luck to you--I am hoping that Portland turns out to be a good place for you. M.

and with that, i hope that the only bad thing i ever said to someone doesn't bite me in the butt. and for that, i am sorry.

Wow -- what a great, nice e-mail. It is a great reminder that sending out thank you notes or passing out words of kindness are always much appreciated. Wonderful!
