gravel, i do not agree with everything this man has to say but he does have a point. don't you get it? and may 1st is recognized as international worker's day by many countries around the world. while there are numerous debates about some specifics, it is generally regarded as a day to celebrate our collective histories rooted in the struggles of labor unions and anarchists to organize against the tyranny of the ruling class. while this particular worker's holiday has been celebrated for over a hundred years, may 1st has also been a celebrated pagan holiday, beltane, observed for centuries. beltane is a time to celebrate the life of spring and oncoming summer, to bask in the beauty of life with those you love, and to remember those that have come before you. with that said, we are closing up shop early on May 1st. either you head home to beat the traffic this march will cause downtown Portland or you can jump right in. as for me, i'm going to watch it all from my balcony.

I just went to the artshow and met an iron worker (artist) from Portland Oregon who lives in Monticello, he lived and worked for a year in Aachen and used to buy milk in Vaals and walked on the Drielandenpunt. He said in portland they don't do much ironwork and moved to Georgia away from the rain.

That particular gentleman specializes in intricate gates, and several them are featured at prominent Savannah residences. This county has two such gates, to my knowledge, and he has a blacksmithing shop out in the country. Very cool.
