why doogie?

as expected, that other guy who lost to ted finished off his ramblings at our hotel last night. as i watched the election 2006 coverage from my sofa, the commentator indulged me with the following statement "and we are here live in the basement of the H." no, dear reporter, do we call my venue and my meeting space, a basement. what is wrong with people. OR do i look at it from the perspective that that other guy was losing and this was his way of setting the tone. either way, i consider myself and my H as a switzerland or a holland. neutral. and in my morning news snippets:

Democrats swept to power in the House on Tuesday and were threatening to take control of the Senate amid exit polls that showed widespread American discontent over Iraq, nationwide disgust at corruption in politics, and low approval ratings for Bush.

Many said they thought the big gains by Democrats signaled the beginning of the end of Bush's reign. The next presidential election is in November 2008.

One opposition lawmaker, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, said he welcomed the election result but was hoping for more. Bush "deserves to be removed, put on trial and given a Saddam-like death sentence," he said.

I think you may be a little sensative about them calling it a basement. I've been down there, and it's a bit like a basement.

I think you might have gotten it right when you said the reporter was setting the scene for the story. Or he might have just mistaken the part of the H which is underground as being a basement. I do that all the time.

Basement, schmasement. Trying saying that outloud. So three cheers for the American public for voting for balance in our government. The voice of opposition will hopefully reach once-deaf ears. Nothing like a little balance to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority!

I hear another storm is blowing your way. Are you in a safe place -- not too close to flood zone, are you? The light this morning was orange and red in the back yard -- pretty. Feet any better?
