natura non facit saltus

i had a severely lazy sunday and monday. i didn’t feel so great making me devoid of glibness (in the written form). i am trying to read decoding the universe – how the new science of information is explaining everything in the cosmos, from our brains to black holes. by c. seife.

‘sometimes you will hear people say entropy is the same thing as information; sometimes you will hear people say that information is negative entropy or negentropy. the difference arises because people are accustomed to analyzing different things. some are looking at the sender and the unpredictability of a potential message, and some are looking at the receiver and the uncertainties about the answer to a question in truth, both are looking at the same thing: sender and receiver are two sides of the same coin.’ and i’ve always been intrigued by schrodinger’s cat theory, that is if you decide to open the cat-and-box system – ‘the laws of quantum mechanics imply that the kitten, itself is in a superposition state; it is both alive and dead at the same time, in a weird ghost-like state of both life and death’ – information can kill the cat. and did you know that koolhaas shares his life with two women – one in london the other in amsterdam. TMI. ;) and it’s the ‘ruggedness’ of the NW that i’m so in love with. so! check out my flickr photos!

and sharon writes: 'montana has so much space, so much sky and so so many nice people. went through a tour of the smoke jumpers station in missoula.' thanks so much for the beautiful photos ;)
