where to begin? i don't think i've ever laughed so much over the last two days. it started out with a kiss... just kidding, i wish, but that is the furthest from the truth ;). so in my haste and last minute preparations, i managed to find the valore wannabe PJ for baby zephyr from a store on NW 23rd called Mako. i bought some bread from my favorite bakery on 23rd and thurman and right next door i discovered that the wine store sold cheeses. i told the cheese guy i needed something fast and i was given a good-size portion of stracchino cow cheese. 'STRACCHINO: [straht-CHEE-noh] a fresh, cow's-milk cheese from italy's lombardy region. stracchino contains about 50 percent milk fat. its flavor is mild and delicate.' a nice score on a seemingly rushed and rainy kinda of day. susan r. picked me up and we made our way over and into NE portland. the directions given to us by the unnamed host were miserably incorrect ;). there is no 60th street exit - you will see 58th avenue and the next is something like 78th. we dodged getting lost by taking the 58th avenue exit and worked our way over to 65th and tillamook. its amazing how many things i've never heard of that are attached to 'when one is with child.' i now know what a binkie, onsies, receiving blanket, bomba chair are all used for. i watched the movie the minority report in the privacy of my own home once i got home. i was caught off guard by a friend who was in town and decided to disappoint me with a NO SHOW visit. i let it go eventually and then worked on sketches of my next knitting projects of which are: a pinafore [a natalie size version of the above photo], bolero and a springy t-shirt with a particular design on it. after watching the minority report, a movie came on and i heard the following: there are millions out there, but in the end, it all ends up with just one... that one, that is imperfection and you fall in love with him. the hopeless romantic in me just doesn't one to die. ;)
traveled into what i like to call civilized backcountry today. left portland on the #12 bus to barber blvd. we then traveled passed the charbonneau district, canby, woodburn and once you see the flashing yellow light you make a right onto S. meridian road. the tulip fields were only at 30% bloom and muddy. fields of candela (yellow), grape hyacinth, joan of arc (crocus) and dutch masters were scattered everywhere. i took way too many photos which i will post sometime this week. in the meantime, below is a photo courtesy of tom jacquemin, photographer
to all my peeps: i'll be in georgia for a week come may. will spend 100% of it in m-town.
