last night's celebration consisted of ~
eat: ya hala. eventhough the food was delectable and i ate more than i should have [for three people it felt like], lebanese food does not taste the same as my father's egyptian dishes. they can not change the great taste of pasterma though. at that moment, i felt like i was sitting back home at my parents' kitchen table. the only thing that was missing was the pita bread sandwiches packed with an egyptian fava bean concoction. a great source of protein, this is a wonderful breakfast or brunch. here is a receipe i found [papa, you are more than welcome to tweak the ingredients for me]:
1 (15 ounce) can cooked fava beans or 1 1/2 cups cooked fava beans
1 small chopped onion
3 cloves chopped garlic
1 large tomato, chopped
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 dash cloves
1 dash turmeric
1 dash cayenne
1 tablespoon lemon juice (or to taste) salt
drink: bogle wine
man: the movie watched last night. the story of a father and his three daughters set in china clings to old recipes for food and wisdom while trying to let them attempt to create lives of their own.
woman: since i'm on a movie kick, go see this movie: happy accidents
news re: the idiatrod race...
